The European Commission renews partnership with EIT InnoEnergy’s European Green Hydrogen Acceleration Center to accelerate and de-risk green hydrogen initiatives.

Accelerate your green hydrogen technology, project or company, and get access to finance!

The European Commission and EIT InnoEnergy’s European Green Hydrogen Acceleration Center (EGHAC) have recently renewed their partnership to accelerate the project pipeline of the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance (ECH2A). By accelerating these hydrogen initiatives to reach commercial scale rapidly, EGHAC works towards reaching the REPowerEU green hydrogen targets as well as sectoral targets set out in the Fit for 55 Package.

Under this umbrella, EGHAC performs due diligence and selection process, supporting the most relevant initiatives to develop a sound investment proposal.

Upon final selection, the hydrogen initiatives will be considered for:

  • equity investment and targeted acceleration services provided by EIT InnoEnergy’s EGHAC
  • access to key investment players in Europe through a matchmaking event that has the objective to kick-start deals between selected projects and renowned European investors.

In 2022, this approach has proven highly successful with 11 potential deals between projects and investors coming out of the cooperation.  In 2023, this collaboration is renewed, and a new evaluation process will start. In addition, EIT InnoEnergy and DG Grow have agreed to collaborate on strategic topics to unblock bottlenecks in the hydrogen economy.

How to get support?
EGHAC has set-up a process which facilitates the initial selection of hydrogen initiatives. Interested projects and technology ventures can fill in a high-level questionnaire which will assess general project characteristics. Based upon this initial insight, selected projects will be asked to proceed to a more detailed due diligence process. In the further process, selected projects will get support and training to finetune their proposals for the pitch session with investors during the final EGHAC Green Hydrogen Investment Day.

The deadline to fill in the questionnaire is 15.07.2023. However, submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The sooner the application is turned in, the more time each applicant has to prepare for the next phase. We therefore invite applicants to apply as soon as possible. EGHAC will hold a webinar on the 30th of May at 14.00 CET to explain the application process and answer questions.
